Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 October 2026
Tabarak is a Quran app for TVs, phones, tablets, watches and the web, made by the Tabarak Team. It is free forever: no ads, no subscriptions, no purchases.
In short: we don't track you, we have no analytics or ads, and we never sell or share your data. Without an account, everything stays on your device. With an account, we keep only what is needed to sync your devices, and you can delete it at any time.
Using the app without an account
You can use the whole app without signing in. Your settings, favourites, notes, tags, reminders and events are saved only on your device. We receive nothing.
If you sign in (optional)
Signing in with Google (or with Apple on an iPhone or iPad) lets your devices share the same settings and progress, and lets your phone control the app on your TV. When you sign in, Google or Apple tells us:
- with Google: your Google account ID, email address, name and profile picture link;
- with Apple: your Apple account ID, your email address (or the private relay address Apple makes for you if you choose to hide yours) and, the first time only, your name.
Our server then keeps:
- your account (the details above);
- your signed-in devices: their kind (TV, tablet, phone or browser), the name set on each device (for example "Galaxy S24 Ultra") and its make and model (for example "Samsung SM-S928B"), when each last signed in and was last used, a scrambled (hashed) form of their sign-in keys, and a scrambled (hashed) form of an identifier the device gives the app, so signing in again on the same device doesn't list it twice;
- what you choose to sync: the app's settings (including the city you picked for prayer times and its coordinates), favourite azkar and hadiths, Mushaf bookmarks, tags and notes, reminder choices, events you add to the Hijri calendar, and where you stopped listening.
This is used only to keep your devices in step. Nobody else sees it.
Phone as a remote for the TV
While your phone controls your TV, the commands and what is playing (surah, reciter and position) pass through our server between your own devices. They are not stored.
Services the app contacts directly
To show the Quran, recitations and prayer times, your device contacts these services itself. Like any website, they see your device's internet address; we send them no account details.
- mp3quran.net: recitations;
- Quran.com (Quran Foundation): Quran text, translations, tafsir, page layouts and recitation timings;
- AlQuran Cloud and EQuran.id: transliterations;
- HadeethEnc.com: hadiths;
- hisnmuslim.com: azkar recordings;
- Aladhan: prayer times (it receives the coordinates of the city you chose);
- Open-Meteo: finding a city by name (it receives what you type);
- Wikimedia Commons and Internet Archive: background pictures and Adhan recordings;
- Google: signing in, only if you choose to.
Permissions on your device
- Notifications: for reminders and the Adhan. They are scheduled on your device.
- Calendar (only if you turn on "My phone calendar"): to show your phone's events in the Hijri calendar and add yours to it. Calendar data stays on your device.
- Camera (only when you scan a TV's sign-in code): pictures are neither saved nor sent.
- No location: the app never asks for your location. You choose your city by name.
Crash reports
We have no analytics or tracking of our own. If you allow it in your phone's settings, Google Play or Apple may share anonymous crash reports with us (for example, the device model and where in the app the problem happened), under their own privacy policies. We use them only to fix problems.
When you write to us
If you contact us (in the app: Settings → Contact us, or at contact@tabarak.app), we receive your email address, your message, and the app's version, device type and language that the app adds to it (you can delete those). We use them only to answer you and improve the app, and may use an AI assistant to help us read and sort messages. We delete a conversation if you ask us to.
How long we keep data, and deleting it
- Your account and synced data are kept until you delete your account.
- A device that hasn't been used for 180 days is signed out, and its sign-in record is removed.
- Internet addresses are used only for a moment, to protect the server from abuse; they are not stored.
- Deleting your account (in the app: Settings → Account → Delete my account) removes your account and everything synced with it from our server immediately and for good, and signs out all your devices. See how to delete your account.
Security
Everything sent between the app and our server is encrypted (HTTPS). Sign-in keys are stored only in scrambled (hashed) form, and access is limited to what each signed-in device needs.
Children
Tabarak is suitable for all ages, and signing in is optional. Children can use the app without an account, in which case we receive nothing. A parent who wants a child's account deleted can delete it in the app or write to us.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update it here and change the date at the top. Important changes will also be mentioned in the app.
